Gene Watson Peer's Quote from Pauline Reese: January 2007

Gene Watson's Peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene Watson's Peers, who were contacted by The Gene Watson Fan Site, during 2007, were most gracious with their time and words.

It is here, within this special part of The Gene Watson Fan Site, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Pauline Reese, which she submitted to this site on Monday 29 January 2007.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Pauline Reese who has made a special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

Pauline Reese
This quote was submitted on Monday 29 January 2007.

'Here are some words I can offer about the wonderfully talented Gene Watson.

I've had the honour of performing with my band at some shows with Gene here in Texas and I danced to almost every tune!

Not only did he have a voice of gold even after all these years, but he was a showman and entertainer as well.

Let's not forget that every other song he sang was a bonafide hit.

Cheers to a great country singer / songwriter!'

Thank you, Pauline Reese, for your support of Gene Watson.

About Pauline Reese...

Pauline Reese's family history is steeped in rodeo and music, with country, bluegrass, Spanish and big band thriving at their small East Texas ranch.  Pauline Reese's mother was a musical director for the local church and brought that influence into the home.

At the age of fourteen, Pauline Reese and her family moved to the Austin, Texas area.  It was there that Pauline Reese was introduced to many other styles of music, but country music remained her passion.

By the age of fifteen, Pauline Reese was singing backup in a local band and, by the time she was eighteen, she was fronting her own band.

Having evolved as an artist and a songwriter, Pauline Reese is one of the hardest-working artists in Texas, and has shared the stage with a wide variety of country music artists, including Willie Nelson, Gary P. Nunn, Freddy Powers (Tuesday 13 October 1931 - Tuesday 21 June 2016), Kevin Fowler, Mark Chesnutt, Johnny Rodriguez, Billy Joe Shaver (Wednesday 16 August 1939 - Wednesday 28 October 2020), Merle Haggard (Tuesday 6 April 1937 - Wednesday 6 April 2016), Johnny Bush (Sunday 17 February 1935 - Friday 16 October 2020), Cory Morrow, Pat Green, Gene Watson, Jack Ingram, Sonny Throckmorton and Roger Creager.

Pauline Reese has also garnered a nomination for the 'Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year' Award by the Academy of Western Artists and she completed her first tour of Europe in the summer of 2003.

Pauline Reese compiled old time Texas recipes and gave them a healthy twist.

With her full six-piece band, powerful vocal style and an undying appreciation of true-to-the-roots country music, Pauline Reese is a natural for audiences across Texas and beyond - anywhere good country music is treasured.

'I'm very excited that Willie Nelson is singing a duet with me on one of my songs'
, said Pauline.
