Personal Note from Gene Watson
'Just heard the very sad news that one of the greats in country music, Bill Mack, has passed.
Bill was 88 years old and a wonderful friend.
You know him from his many years at WBAP radio in Ft. Worth, as well as SiriusXM, his syndicated radio show 'Country Crossroads' and more.
He wrote some huge hits, including LeAnn Rimes' Grammy winning 'Blue' (No.10, 1996) and 'Drinking Champagne' that was a hit for Cal Smith (Thursday 7 April 1932 - Thursday 10 October 2013) (No.35, 1968), and later for George Strait (No.4 in October 1990).
Such a tremendous talent, but more than that, he was a very special friend.
Wishing him peace now, and our condolences to his family'
