Tommy Alverson (October 2006)

Gene Watson's peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene's Peers who were contacted in 2006 were most gracious with their time & words.  It is here, within this special part of gene-watson.com, that you have an opportunity to read Tommy Alverson's quote, which he submitted to this site on Tuesday 10 October 2006.

I (Sean Brady) would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Tommy Alverson who has made a special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

'Sean, I feel honoured you would ask me to do this.  Thank you very much.  Here goes: As an artist in Texas, I cut my teeth on 'Fourteen carat mind' (played it every night), 'Farewell party' & 'Love in the hot afternoon'.

When I heard 'At last', it was the icing on the cake.  Gene is one of those singers when you hear him you know immediately who it is.

I got to play a show with Gene in Mineral Wells, Texas about two years ago & he's still as strong as ever.  What a voice!  God Bless Gene Watson!'

Thank you, Tommy Alverson, for your support of Gene Watson.
