Overview
The 'Sometimes I Get Lucky' album spawned three Top 10 hits for
Gene Watson on the Billboard country music singles chart; 'You're out

reached No.2 in 1983, 'Sometimes I
Get Lucky' reached No.9 in 1983 & 'Drinkin' my way back home' climbed
to No.10 in 1984.
The 'Sometimes I Get Lucky' album doesn't just have the distinction of
including three of Gene's biggest hit songs. The album also has the
distinction of being the first Gene Watson release to feature members of
his acclaimed Farewell Party Band on record, thus affording listeners
the opportunity to hear this authentic group of musicians for the first
time, in a studio setting, recreating a concert sound.
The Farewell Party Band line-up at this time included Larry Booth
(bass), Joe Eddie Gough (piano), Doug Boggs (drums), Daniel (Danny) T.
Rainwater (guitar), the late Dave Kirby (guitar), Norm Kastner (guitar)
& Chris 'Tiny' Olson.
The 'Sometimes I Get Lucky & Forget' album was produced by Russ Reeder
& Gene Watson for G-J Productions.
The 'Sometimes I Get Lucky & Forget' album was recorded at Pete's Place,
Nashville, Tennessee where the Recording & Mixing Engineer was Al Pachucci.
The 'Sometimes I Get Lucky' album achieved a chart position of
Number 16 on the Billboard Top Country Album Chart in 1983.
