Penny Dale (February 2007)

Gene Watson's peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene's Peers who were contacted in 2007 were most gracious with their time & words.  It is here, within this special part of gene-watson.com, that you have an opportunity to read Penny Dale's quote, which she submitted to this site on Monday 19 February 2007.

I (Sean Brady) would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Penny Dale who has made a special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

'Gene Watson is kind of like the Frank Sinatra of country music!  His voice is so clear & smooth, but still country; he is one of the great country crooners'.

Thank you, Penny Dale, for your support of Gene Watson.

About Penny Dale...

Penny Dale grew up listening to rock music & then developed a taste for country music; her sound is a unique mix of rock, country & southern roots.

Penny was raised in Atlanta, Georgia where she grew up listening to Stevie
Nicks, Skynyrd & Prince, mixed with David Allen Coe, Hank Williams Junior, Tracey Chapman & Hal Ketchum.

Penny's professional career began in Los Angeles where her unique style &
voice were first noticed by legendary rock vocalist Rosemary Butler, who took her under her wing & the two began work on a ten-song debut.

Rosemary's past work with legendary rock & country artists including James
Taylor, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris, were a perfect
mix with Penny's edgy country vocals & her rock background.

With Rosemary's direction & a few of her good friends including Albert Lee, Andrew Gold & Herb Pedersen, Penny & Rosemary ended up with a 10-song debut that created a buzz within the industry.  The songs were written by some of Nashville's best including Carolyn Dawn-Johnson & Jill Colucci.

Penny then moved to Nashville & began writing and developing her own sound that she had always longed to make.  She met with several producers & managers before choosing producer Eric Fritsch.

Fritsch's Eastwood Studios in East Nashville was the perfect choice, because it had been garnering attention for alternative sounds of country & rock. Penny then saw the release of her debut set 'Undaunted'.
