Gene Watson Music
Gene Watson has been singing professionally since the
late 1950s & has been a country music (album) recording artist since the late
1960s.
Gene
Watson steps into a recording studio and, like a great chef, uses the perfect
ingredients to create an aural feast. When Gene Watson takes a step behind the
microphone, magic happens.
Gene Watson's contribution to the country music genre is immeasurable and it is
here that you will find information about Gene's contributions to various
album releases.
Gene Watson's amazing
vocal presence has been recognised by so many and, as a consequence, he
has been invited to be on a number of other
releases, where he has provided vocal harmonies or added
a complete guest vocal.
The album
releases referred to here are ones to which Gene
Watson has contributed a vocal track or harmony vocals.
Gene Watson performs
'Cowboys don't get lucky all the time' on the soundtrack of the Sam Peckinpah-directed
'Convoy', a movie which starred Kris Kristofferson & Ali McGraw.

Country' album, which was released on Capitol Records (ST11715) in

Gene Watson was only too pleased to add his distinctive harmony vocals
to the track 'Tempted', which was included on
a fine, traditional (& highly acclaimed) album from the
'First Lady of Country Music' -
Tammy Wynette (5 May 1942 - 6 April 1998).
The 'Higher Ground' album was released on Epic Records (EPIC 4511481) in 1987.

Ernest Tubb
(RIP) on 'Yesterday's winner is a loser today'.
The
'Ernest Tubb Collection' album was originally released on First
Generation Records in 1979 under the title of 'The Legend & the
Legacy'.
However, Gene Watson's contribution on
'Yesterday's winner is a loser today' did not see the light of
day until Step One Records released their version of this Ernest Tubb set in 1989
('Ernest
Tubb Collection': Step One Records SOR 0049, 1989).
First Generation Records (and this tribute album to
Ernest Tubb)
were the brainchild of famed session steel guitar player Pete
Drake (8 October 1932 - 29 July 1988).
Gene Watson performs a duet with
George Jones
on the song
'Silver bells', which was included on the
'Nashville
Christmas Album', a seasonal album released on

Watson performs 'I can't help it (if I'm still in love
with you)' on the 'Hank
Williams Tribute' compilation album, which was
