in Nashville on Thursday 8 April 2010.
The 'Opry Country Classics' show highlights classic
country music & memories through music, storytelling & film clips of
country’s all-time legends on Thursday nights.
It was also confirmed (on Friday 26 February 2010) that Gene Watson & his Farewell Party Band will
grace the hallowed stage of the
Grand Ole Opry
in Nashville on Friday 9 April 2010.

Today, Gene Watson travelled to Nashville in order to attend a meeting with
his management team at Lytle Management;
while in Music City, Gene also found time to eat a good meal at Vittles.
Gene also found time to post this brief message on his
Facebook page, 'I have to hurry back to Texas
tomorrow (Friday 26 February 2010), but I hope to see you around at one of
the shows'.

Today, Gene Watson & the Farewell Party Band are on their way to Tampa,
Florida; Gene & the guys are performing at the
Florida State Fair on 4800
Highway 301 North in Tampa, FL on Wednesday 10 February 2010. Special guests
will include Leroy Van Dyke & T.G. Sheppard (for further information, please contact 813-621-7821 or toll free
1-800-345-FAIR).
On the night of Sunday 7 February 2010, Gene Watson performed with
Rhonda Vincent at the 36th Annual
SPBGMA
(Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America) Bluegrass Music
Awards at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville.
The evening was amazing; Gene performed 'Staying together' with Rhonda & her
band, The Rage, and then Gene sang 'Farewell
party' solo with a fiddle replacing the usual steel part (he was backed
by Rhonda's superb band). Gene said that it was great evening; he
received a standing ovation after 'Farewell
party'.
And, on the night,
Rhonda Vincent picked up two awards; one
for 'Traditional Female Vocalist' & one for 'Entertainer of the Year'.
Well done, Rhonda!
Gene Watson's Farewell Party Band will be a part of the Bluegrass Cruise
with Rhonda Vincent, which takes place
between Saturday 13 February 2010 & Saturday 20 February 2010; the
2010 Rhonda Vincent Bluegrass Cruise will depart from Fort Lauderdale,
FL (Port Everglades, FL 33316).
On Monday 1 February 2010, it was announced that Gene Watson &
Rhonda Vincent's single 'Staying Together'
has made it to the second round of nominations for the Academy of Country
Music Awards for 'Vocal Event of the Year'.
Please consider a vote for this great duet - a real tribute to traditional
country music! Please note that you have to be member of the academy to
vote.

What an amazing year this has turned into already.
This week we learned that the duet with
Rhonda Vincent,
'Staying together' from my 'A
Taste of the Truth' album made it to the
next to final ballot for the Academy of Country Music (ACM) for 'Vocal Event
of the Year'. We're nominated against the likes of Carrie Underwood,
Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn and other artists who are having a great deal
of top forty radio success.
To me, it's just an honour that our traditional style of music received so
many industry votes that we made it to this stage. It's comforting to
know that real country music is still in the hearts of the music community.
Just today, we learned that
The9513.com website, which is hugely
popular, awarded us 'Album of the Year'! This is no doubt thanks to
all of you for your votes & for that I'm extremely grateful.
Dirk Johnson,
who produced this album, deserves an award himself for all the hard work &
amazing expertise he added in the studio. I may not have been awarded
over the years by gold statues but I've been more than rewarded with the
greatest fans in the world.
I've just returned from a fun week on the Grand Ole Opry cruise where I met
many new fans who I hope are reading this today. We had such a good
time there & look forward to going on one of those again. We are in
Carrollton, GA this weekend & then head out for another cruise with
Rhonda Vincent & her
band, The Rage.
Speaking of
Rhonda Vincent, I will

It was announced (on Monday 1 February 2010) that Gene Watson &
Rhonda Vincent's single 'Staying
Together' has made it to the second round of nominations for the Academy of
Country Music Awards for 'Vocal Event of the Year'.
Please consider a vote for this great duet - a real tribute to traditional
country music! Please note that you have to be member of the academy to
vote.

Gene Watson & the Farewell Party Band will tour Ireland & England
in July & August 2010.
The Gene Watson Tour of Ireland & England &
will commence on Saturday 31 July 2010 & will continue until Sunday 15 August 2010.
