Today, it was with regret that
the Gene Watson Fan Site broke the news that Gene Watson
was still suffering from a bad case of flu.
As a consequence, Gene Watson & The Farewell Party Band
would not be appearing on Saturday 1 March
2008 at the Performing Arts Center at Chickasha
High School in Chickasha, Oklahoma - Gene
apologised to all those patrons who
had been planning to attend the performance.

It was also with regret that the Gene Watson Fan Site
reported that Gene Watson would not be participating in the taping of the
GAC Master Series on Monday 25 February 2008, a taping that was due to take
place at the hallowed halls of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
However, there was good news - Gene Watson
would participate in the taping of the GAC Master
Series on Tuesday 25 March 2008, a taping that would
take place at the hallowed halls of the Country Music Hall of Fame in
Nashville.
It was also on Tuesday 25 March 2008 that Gene
Watson would grace the hallowed stage of
the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville - the Farewell
Party Band would not be appearing on the night.
It is also expected that a show for Nashville's Country Legend WSM 650AM
along with two more interviews for Tuesday 25 March 2008
would be rescheduled.

Monday 04
Gene Watson is best known as a legendary country singer but he is also one
dedicated golfer.
Gene tore ligaments in his left hand while playing a round of golf in
Houston, Texas on Saturday 2 February 2008. The separated ligaments
caused a knuckle to extend from the socket. Gene just happened to have a
paramedic among his golfing partners who recommended they head to the
emergency room but Gene insisted on finishing the game.
According to Gene, 'It was excruciating pain but I was hoping to finish the
round & bring up my score which up to the 11th hole was pretty dismal.
Unfortunately my game went decidedly downhill from there'.
A Houston physician put Gene's hand in a soft cast & although he
was unable
to use his left hand, being the trouper he is, Gene still
insisted on travelling to
Nashville for his appearance on the 'Crook & Chase Show'
on Wednesday 6
February 2008 (the show would air on the RFD-TV network on Thursday 7, Friday
8 & Saturday 10 February 2008).
Gene Watson & Rhonda Vincent
were scheduled to perform their
duet 'Together again' from Gene's latest album 'In a Perfect World' on
Shanachie Records.
Gene was also scheduled to
make an appearance on the hallowed stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville
on Friday 8 February 2008. An appointment with an
orthopedic surgeon had been scheduled for Monday 11 February 2008 to determine if
surgery was necessary.
Here's wishing Gene a speedy recovery!
