Part of Willie Nelson's appeal has been the lack of certainty about his
life, including the exact date of his birth. Some sources claim that it was
29 April, while others say that it's 30 April.

Friends & fans recalled memories of Willie Nelson
as the 'Hillbilly Guru' turned 75. Gene Watson is
one of those stars who was asked to contribute his thoughts about his
favourite Willie Nelson song & you can read Gene's words
here.

One of Gene Watson's favourite Willie Nelson songs is 'Darkness on the face
of the earth', a track that was included on Willie Nelson's 'Teatro' (Island
Records, 1998).

As an aside, Gene Watson recorded Roger Miller's composition 'Sorry Willie'
& included the track on 'Because You Believed
in Me' (Capitol Records,
1976), while Roger Miller also recorded 'Sorry
Willie' & included the track on
'Roger Miller' (RCA-Camden Records, 1960).
