Miss Leslie Lindley (June 2007)

Gene Watson's peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene's Peers who were contacted in 2007 were most gracious with their time & words.  It is here, within this special part of gene-watson.com, that you have an opportunity to read Miss Leslie's quote, which she submitted to this site on Tuesday 5 June 2007.

I (Sean Brady) would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Miss Leslie who has made a special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

'
Gene Watson is one of the smoothest, soulful country singers of all time.

He has the ability to convey the spirit of country music in a way that few artists have been able to do.

I'm a huge fan & always will be'.

Thank you, Miss Leslie, for your support of Gene Watson.

About Miss Leslie...

Miss Leslie & her Juke-Jointers play honky tonk country music with a 1950s/1960s-style flair.  Their form of music has been described as 'country music with a hardwood floor sound'.

Leslie & the group combine original material along with obscure country tunes which they have unearthed from the 1950s & 1960s.

(Miss) Leslie Lindley possesses a gutsy vocal style that has been compared to the likes of Patsy Cline, Leona Williams & Connie Smith.

The Juke-Jointers include Ricky Davis (who has played with Gary P Nunn, Dale Watson, Tommy Alverson, The Derailers & Asleep at the Wheel) & Ric Ramirez (who has played with Two Tons of Steel & Wayne Hancock).

Miss Leslie & her Juke-Jointers were nominated for Houston Press Music Awards in 2004, 2005 & 2006.  They were also nominated for the Best Original Band in the Houston Chronicles Ultimate Houston awards in 2005.
