It
wasn't every day of the week that Gene Watson undertook a tour of Northern Ireland, so
the most was made of a unique opportunity to witness a Texan country music
legend in performance.
Gene Watson's latest album at the time of his
Northern Ireland tour in August 2006 was the Koch Records Nashville release 'Gene
Watson: Then & Now'.
Gene Watson's Farewell Party Band line-up at the time of his Northern
Ireland tour in August 2006 included Jim Black (piano), Kenneth Dean 'Corky' Owens (steel guitar),
Todd Hines (drums), Rick Hawthorne (guitar) & Staley Rogers
(bass guitar).
Jim Black also acted as Gene Watson's road manager.

They arrived in Northern Ireland sometime on the Monday evening & rested up
prior to the commencement of the tour.

& the Farewell Party Band were based in Magherafelt in Co. Derry, from where
they traveled to each of their featured venues. Gene's driver for the duration
of the tour of Northern Ireland was a lady called Shelley.

A short time later, Gene came out & started signing autographs & posing for
