Gene Watson Peer's Quote from Zona Jones: October 2008

Gene Watson's peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene Watson's Peers who were contacted during 2008 were most gracious with their time and words. It is here, within this special part of the Gene Watson Fan Site, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Zona Jones, which he submitted to this site on Saturday 4 October 2008.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Zona Jones who made a special contribution to this unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

This quote was submitted on Saturday 4 October 2008.

'I have been a Gene Watson fan for as long as I can remember.

'Farewell Party', 'Love In The Hot Afternoon', 'From Cotton To Satin' and 'Baby Me Baby' are all favourites of mine.

It is both an honour and pleasure to have the opportunity to share the stage with Gene Watson. I'm looking forward to it!'

Thank you, Zona Jones, for your support of Gene Watson.

About Zona Jones...

Zona Jones
is a native of Beaumont, Texas. Although George Jones was the first artist to put Beaumont, Texas on the country music map, the area has also produced a number of artists who have also gone on to enjoy national prominence in the United States of America.

Zona Jones has performed in exactly the same clubs that helped launch the careers of his good friends (and fellow artists) Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd and Clay Walker.

Zona Jones was raised on a working cattle ranch (his father was a rodeo cowboy and rancher) and was heavily influenced by his grandmother's love of music and his parents' value of education.

Zona Jones received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas; he went on to earn a law degree which, in turn, landed him a job at a prestigious firm in Beaumont, Texas where he found a booming musical community.

Zona Jones then began to form close relationships with other artists/musicians, including Tracy Byrd and Mark Chesnutt.  Zona Jones formed the band Swing West and began playing the Texas club and dancehall circuit.

In 2004, Zona Jones recorded the album 'Harleys And Horses' (D Records, 2004), which spawned three Top 5 singles on the Texas Music Chart; the album's most popular single and radio hit 'Two Hearts' led to Zona Jones' first real national exposure in the United States of America.

At the time of the acquisition of this Gene Watson 'Peer's Quote', in October 2008, Zona Jones was signed to fellow country artist Tracy Lawrence's Rocky Comfort Records, a label that Tracy had formed in 2006.

In 2009, Zona Jones saw the release of 'Prove Me Right' (Rocky Comfort Records, 2009); one of the tracks included on the album was 'Two Hearts (One Love)', which was written by A.J. Masters and Ed Hill.
