On Thursday 12 April 2012, Gene Watson made an Opry Shop In-Store appearance at The Grand Ole Opry on 2804 Opryland Drive in Nashville at 5:30pm.
Gene Watson signed copies of his latest CD, 'Best Of The Best: 25 Greatest Hits' (Fourteen Carat Music, 2012); the album was released on Fourteen Carat Music, Gene Watson's own record label, on Tuesday 14 February 2012. This event was free to attend.
It was also on Thursday 12 April 2012 when Gene Watson participated in 'Opry Country Classics' at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, with a performance time of 7:00pm.
'Opry Country Classics' was a two-hour show, hosted by Larry Gatlin, which featured performances from Gene Watson, Sarah Darling, Rhonda Vincent, Steel Magnolia and The Whites.
Gene Watson performed 'Fourteen Carat Mind' and 'Farewell Party'. Gene Watson then launched into 'Sweet Thang', which was written by Nat Stuckey (Sunday 17 December 1933 - Wednesday 24 August 1988), at which point Rhonda Vincent entered from the side of the stage singing her part of the song.
After Gene Watson and Rhonda Vincent had completed their performance of 'Sweet Thang', they ended their portion of 'Opry Country Classics' with Buck Owens' classic song 'Together Again'.
