Gene Watson's Peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene Watson's Peers, who were contacted during 2013, were most gracious with their time and words.

It is here, within this special part of The Gene Watson Fan Site, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Dale Sellers, which he submitted to this site on Sunday 23 June 2013.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Dale Sellers who made a special contribution to this unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

Sean Brady would also like to say 'thank you' to the kind folks at Tim Castle & Young Southern, without whom the acquisition of this Gene Watson 'Peer's Quote' from Dale Sellers would not have been possible.

This quote was submitted on Sunday 23 June 2013.

'Sean,
I got your email forwarded from Tim Castle / Young Southern.

Yes, I stand guilty of being the guitar player on Gene Watson's records back in the 1970s and 1980s; fun times being a part of that.

Gene was one of my favourite artists to record with; he always had real good songs and he could flat out sing 'em.

Gene plays The Hank Williams Festival every year in my hometown, Georgiana, Alabama and the people that I talk to down there always have good things to say about him and his show'.

Thank you, Dale Sellers, for your support of Gene Watson.

About Dale Sellers...

Dale Sellers was born in Georgiana, Alabama which was also the hometown of Hank Williams (Monday 17 September 1923 - Thursday 1 January 1953) and moved to Nashville, where he attained international recognition as 'one of country music's best studio guitarists'.

Dale Sellers was an A-List session guitar player in Nashville for over two decades; the legendary Chet Atkins (Friday 20 June 1924 - Saturday 30 June 2001) cited Dale Sellers as one of his own personal favourite guitar players.

As well as being a lifetime cast member of Hee Haw, Dale Sellers recorded hit country music records with most of the major Nashville music artists, including Waylon Jennings (Tuesday 15 June 1937 - Wednesday 13 February 2002), George Jones (Saturday 12 September 1931 - Friday 26 April 2013), Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire, Jerry Lee Lewis, John Conlee, Gary Stewart (Sunday 28 May 1944 - Tuesday 16 December 2003), Neil Young, Alabama, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles (Tuesday 23 September 1930 - Thursday 10 June 2004) and BB King.

Dale Sellers also played lead guitar on the soundtrack of the critically acclaimed television movie, 'Elvis', which starred Kurt Russell.

Dale Sellers' musical travels have led him across the United States and Europe, traveling with Wayne Newton to the Persian Gulf for a 1987 USO Tour. Dale also joined Wayne Newton for nine years in Las Vegas, eventually returning to Nashville.

At the time of the acquisition of this Gene Watson 'Peer's Quote', in June 2013, Dale Sellers was living in North Lake, Wisconsin and was spending time in the studio working on his new solo album release for RockIt Records. The yet untitled CD will feature an array of Dale's fretboard prowess covering a blend of original tunes as well as some classic standards.

Dale Sellers played lead guitar on Gene Watson's 'Love In The Hot Afternoon' (Capitol Records, 1975).

Dale Sellers played guitar on Gene Watson's 'Paper Rosie' (Capitol Records, 1977).
