'Thank you for the great tribute website and for allowing me the privilege of voicing my opinion on one of the most talented vocalists of the last three decades.

Although I had heard of him, I became a true Gene Watson fan when I had the honour of opening a show for him at the age of fourteen. Gene is one of those rare song stylists who possesses the ability to take the writer's emotions and deliver them as though he was singing about his own personal experiences.

If the general listening audience had the musical knowledge of those in the industry, I believe Gene Watson would have been one of the megastars of country music.

Gene continues to stay true to his traditional roots and, like fine wine, he gets better with age. The fact that very few of his hit songs have been covered by other artists, only proves that once Gene Watson sings a song, it has been sung'.

About Jolie Holliday...

Jolie Holliday is a native of Dallas, Texas where she was born on Tuesday 17 March 1981.

As a little girl, Jolie's mother introduced her to the love of music.  By the age of five, she was belting out tunes for friends and family.  Much of her childhood was spent with her grandfather on his ranch, 'The Bar T', in Karnack, Texas.  While working together on the ranch, he encouraged Jolie to believe in herself, and taught her that responsibility, determination and faith were the keys to a successful life.

Jolie Holliday fell deeper in love with country music as the two listened to classic country music greats such as Tammy Wynette (Tuesday 5 May 1942 - Monday 6 April 1998), Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty (Friday 1 September 1933 - Saturday 5 June 1993) and Dolly Parton.  Jolie began publicly performing in her early teens.

From the age of fifteen, Jolie Holliday had four years of piano under the guidance of Delana Cook (having been singing from the age of eight); she also had six years of vocal training by Ken Slaughter, Leona Rupert, Debbie Pierot, Linda Septien, Gary Hogue and Universal Sound recording artist Charlie Shearer.

Jolie Holliday's debut album, 'A Real Good Day' (Universal Sound Records, 2000) was released on Universal Sound Records in 2000 and was tremendously successful, garnering the Dallas native a number of awards, and entered the European country music chart at No.1.

Jolie Holliday also received the 'Young Talent Of The Year' Award at the German Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, as well as 'Female Vocalist Of The Year' and 'Album Of The Year' at the CMA Indie Awards in 2001.

Jolie Holliday also supported the 'A Real Good Day' (Universal Sound Records, 2000) album with a European tour, which took place in 2002.

Since the release of her debut album, Jolie Holliday has opened shows for such country music legends as Mickey Gilley, Johnny Lee, Restless Heart, Lee Ann Womack, Lonestar, Collin Raye, Marty Stuart and Jerry Jeff Walker.



Jolie Holliday's follow-up album, 'Lucky Enough' (JEH Entertainment, 2009), included soulful country ballads, true to Jolie's roots, along with up-tempo honky-tonk tunes, which featured her broad vocal range.

The single 'No Thanks' reached No.1 on the IndieWorld Country Chart, while 'I'm Coming Home To You' was in the Top 25 on the Texas Music Chart.

Jolie Holliday performed at the half-time show at the 2009 Thanksgiving Dallas Cowboy game, the 2009 and 2010 Country Music Association (CMA) Music Festivals and the 2011 Official Super Bowl Pre-Game in Dallas, Texas.  Jolie can also be seen in concert regularly at Chevrolet and NASCAR sponsored events, such as the State Fair of Texas, Daytona 500, Brickyard 400, Allstate 400 and Indianapolis 500.



Jolie Holliday's 'Love Was All We Had In Common' (Hillside Records, 2012) was released in 2012 and included Dallas Frazier's 'Big Mable Murphy', along with Waylon Jennings (Tuesday 15 June 1937 - Wednesday 13 February 2002) and Willie Nelson's 'Good Hearted Woman'.



Waylon Jennings (Tuesday 15 June 1937 - Wednesday 13 February 2002) recorded 'Good Hearted Woman' and included the track on 'Good Hearted Woman' (RCA Records, 1972); the track reached No.3 on the Billboard country music singles char in 1972.

Jolie Holliday's 'Love Was All We Had In Common' (Hillside Records, 2012) also included 'Wrong Company', which was written by Harlan Howard (Thursday 8 September 1927 - Sunday 3 March 2002) and was a duet with Kenny Seratt.

Jolie Holliday currently lives in Richardson, Texas.  When she’s not performing or recording, Jolie enjoys working out, horseback riding, boating, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
