'Gene Watson: Gospel At Its Best' was released on Gusto Records and was an album project that Gene had been wishing to undertake for some time - a country music collection made up entirely of religious material.

The recording of the album was very much a family affair; six of the ten featured tracks were written by Gene’s cousin Bobbie Bost, while his sisters Virginia Ruth Watson Thompson and Mary Lois Watson Templeton, provided wonderful harmony vocals'.

'Gene Watson: Gospel At Its Best' was produced by Ray Pennington and the A&R was undertaken by Todd Mooring.
The Recording Engineer was Kevin McManus.

'Gene Watson: Gospel At Its Best' was recorded at the Oak Valley Sound Studio, Nashville and was mastered by John Eberle, NRP.
