About '22 Golden Country Greats'...

Album Overview

'Gusto Records is a Nashville-based record company which specialises in reissuing and licensing recordings from its vast catalogue of music from acquired record labels and their own studio recordings.

Around 2005, Gusto Records acquired the back catalogue of Step One Records, an independent record label which had operated out of Nashville between 1984 and 1997 and which had been founded by Ray Pennington and Curtis Potter.

'22 Golden Country Greats' contains some very fine material from Gene Watson's time with Step One Records in the mid-to-late 1990s; however, some tracks are also taken from Gene Watson's time with Broadland Records/Mercury Canada in 1992.

'22 Golden Country Greats' contains three previously unreleased tracks; 'All My Tomorrows' and 'Love's Tombstone' were tracks that Gene Watson never completed.

On Friday 11 September 2009, Gene Watson stated that one track has no backing vocals, while the second track is one Gene decided to discard after he had laid down a 'rough' studio vocal for the song.

'Let's Give It Up Or Get It On' is a re-recording and appears on CD for the first time'.
