Gene Watson's 'The Best of Gene Watson' includes tracks from 'Gene Watson' (Wide World Records, 1969 / Stoneway Records, 1973), 'Love In The Hot Afternoon' (Capitol Records, 1975), 'Because You Believed in Me' (Capitol Records, 1976) and 'Paper Rosie' (Capitol Records, 1977).

Gene Watson's 'The Best of Gene Watson' also included two tracks, 'Shadows on the Wall' (written by Thomas Becket) and 'John's Back in Town', both of which were previously released as 45rpm vinyl singles only.
