On Wednesday 12 April 2006, Gene Watson recorded Willie Nelson's 'Pretty Paper' at Hilltop Studios in Nashville.  The recording session was overseen by Dave Lindsey, who produced the session for inclusion in a Christmas compilation project.

The project, 'Still Believing in Christmas' (Seasong Records, 2006), which was released on Seasong Recordings in late October/early November 2006, featured cuts by Lynn Anderson, David Frizzell, Lorrie Morgan, T.G. Sheppard, Kelly Lang, Porter Wagoner (Friday 12 August 1927 - Sunday 28 October 2007), Helen Cornelius, Little Jimmy Dickens, Crystal Gayle, Daryle Singletary, Bobby Bare and Bill Anderson.

Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum, Nashville

On Thursday 17 August 2006, while visiting Nashville, Gene Watson took a short tour of the new Musicians Hall of Fame and had the good fortune to run into his old friend, Joe Stampley.  The curator and owner of the Musicians Hall of Fame was Joe Chambers whom Gene also knew.

Gene Watson: 'Honky Tonk Crazy' (Epic Records, 1987)

Gene Watson recorded Joe Chambers' 'Ashes To Ashes' (co-written with Larry Jenkins) and included the track on 'Honky Tonk Crazy' (Epic Records, 1987).

Joe Stampley, Gene Watson and Joe Chambers enjoyed a nice visit.
