Gene Watson's Peers: Gretchen Peters
Gene Watson's peers within the country
music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east
Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's
singer' - and rightly so!
All of Gene's Peers who were contacted in 2006 were most gracious with their
time & words. It is here, within this special part of gene-watson.com, that
you have an opportunity to read a quote from
Gretchen Peters, which she
submitted to this site on Monday 4 September 2006.
Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to
Gretchen Peters who has made a
special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone
Star Hero'.

'I remember very clearly the first time I heard Gene
Watson's voice. I was driving my old Pontiac in Denver, Colorado late at
night, and 'Farewell party' came on the radio. I was a new convert to
country music back then, just soaking up whatever I could find.
The last note Gene sings on that record pinned my years back and nearly made
me wreck the car. It was an astonishing voice and a perfect song. I was
blown away. The next day I went out and bought every Gene Watson record I
could find. He remains, to this day, one of my very favourite country
singers'.
Thank you, Gretchen Peters, for
your support of Gene Watson.
