Gene Watson's Peers: Cindy Church

Gene Watson's peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene's Peers who were contacted in 2006 were most gracious with their time & words. It is here, within this special part of gene-watson.com, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Cindy Church, which she submitted to this site on Tuesday 7 March 2006.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Cindy Church who has made a special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

About Cindy Church...

Cindy Church has one of the most distinctive voices in Canada. She is equally at home as a country singer and a jazz balladeer and can easily tackle pop tunes, gospel songs & folk material with equal aplomb.

Cindy Church has been a leading figure in Canada's roots music scene for two decades.  In 1987, she co-founded the traditional country trio Great Western Orchestra which recorded a remarkable eponymous album for Sony Music Canada in 1989.

Originally from Bible Hill, Nova Scotia, Cindy's musical influences were primarily country & traditional music.  She grew up in a country music household, where the music of Hank Snow, Kitty Wells & Jean Shepard was heard on a regular basis.

Cindy Church was brought up in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia and has spent most of her life in Western Canada, first in Edmonton, then Vancouver in Island, Turner Valley, south of Calgary and, most recently, Toronto. Cindy's career in music has seen her achieve many highlights, including her time as Ian Tyson's back-up singer & as a member of the Great Western Orchestra.
